Manager Procurement & Supply Chain

  • Eindhoven, Netherlands
€6,500 - €9,000 per monthBusiness Support

Job description

Climate change is real and we need to act fast. Our purpose is to restore the carbon balance in our atmosphere. We believe it’s important to have a positive impact on society, the economy, and the climate. Are you ready to join us on our mission? 🌎

The upcoming period we'll experience a strong shift from R&D into Operations (to gradually work towards high-volume). In order to make sure that we'll eventually reach our mission we're looking for a Manager Procurement & Supply Chain to build this discipline from the ground up!

Role
Let’s start off with some context within which we can position your role. If you’ll join Carbyon today, you’ll find out that the majority of the team is hyper focused on further developing our technology. Think of our Sorbent team which is working on industrializing the sorbent itself, and our Architects and Engineers working on the hardware & software around the sorbent. So, in some way, it might feel that you’ll join Carbyon too soon.

But that’s for a reason. We strongly believe that if we start building our Procurement & Supply Chain strategies early on, that’ll benefit our product – and thus our mission – on the long run. As said, the majority of the team is focused on our technology. Some exceptions are made here. Not that long ago Bogdan, our Manager Manufacturing Engineering, joined us on our mission. Essentially for the same reason; to be involved early on. For instance, to think about Design for Manufacturability while he still can influence the design itself.

Having shared these charcoal sketches, it’ll hopefully give you a better understanding of the team and stage you might become part of. Initially, you’ll join Carbyon as a one-person team being responsible for everything Procurement & Supply Chain related. From developing and setting up a supplier base up to warehouse management (and everything in between!). Your role will have a span from long-term strategy (how do we gradually work towards high-volume production) up to operational day-to-day activities (such as contract negotiations with prospective suppliers). Imaginably, your team will grow over time.

Responsibilities
Joining Carbyon as Manager Procurement & Supply Chain is a unique opportunity to build our Procurement & Supply Chain discipline from the ground up. As you'll understand, it’s quite difficult to somewhat put your responsibilities in just a few bullets. We did an attempt here (which can be found below)! Please take into account that your role isn’t limited to those particular responsibilities. It's more important that you shape your role according to what we want to achieve with our Procurement & Supply Chain discipline. However, here are your responsibilities captured in a few bullets;

  • Designing and overseeing the overall Procurement & Supply Chain strategy
  • Building up processes and procedures to work accordingly from scratch
  • Setting up the complete supply chain (including warehousing)
  • Setting up a factory together with our Manager Manufacturing Engineering (starting off with a small-scaled factory)
  • Setting up a base of suppliers and partners; this includes finding and evaluating suppliers, products and services, contract negotiations to ultimately acquire the most cost-efficient deals without compromising on quality
  • Making sure we have cost-effective low inventory levels of parts and a lean logistics flow

Why join us?

We offer you to:

Job requirements

Our ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Has either a bachelor’s or master’s degree
  • Brings 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in the delivery and management of procurement and supply chain services, logistics and assets management
