Industrial Automation & Control Engineer

  • Eindhoven, Netherlands
€3,200 - €4,500 per monthMachine Development

Job description

Climate change is real and we need to act fast. Our purpose is to restore the carbon balance in our atmosphere. We believe it’s important to have a positive impact on society, the economy, and the climate. Are you ready to join us on our mission? 🌎

Role
Let’s firstly give you some insights on how the team you’ll work with looks like. Essentially, you’ll work with a multidisciplinary team composed of electrical, mechanical, software and chemical engineers. This team is working on a wide variety of things; think implementation of new setups and prototypes, but also working on improvements and debugging of existing setups. Within this context, you’ll come to play!

As an Industrial Automation & Control Engineer your main goal is to ensure our machines and setups (equipment) are working and keep on working. This includes any bugs or problems with electrical circuitry and connections, inter-module communication, software and control. Sometimes, you’ll work hands on in the lab, while other times you’ll do some coding or circuit design with your PC. You’ll be backboned by experienced engineers when you are stuck, or when you’d like to learn new things. Essentially, this role involves design, integration as well as maintenance. You could say that it’s quite a broadly oriented role (thanks to the small size of the team). From a design point of view, you’ll support development of new projects. Integration wise, you’ll make sure new equipment will be up and running.

Responsibilities
Joining Carbyon, means joining a scale-up which is constantly on the move. This could result in your role evolving over time as well. Despite this fluid trait of your role, we’ve tried to capture your responsibilities in a few bullets so you know what to expect! As mentioned earlier, your role is distributed across design, integration and maintenance work. As you can see, we’ve used those three same pillars for structurally describing your responsibilities;

Design

  • Support component selection (from electronics / communication point of view)
  • Define the behavior of the machine in documents such as control philosophy or P&ID diagrams
  • Full responsibility of control boards (microprocessor (u)C, PLC) hardware
  • Support the GUI development

Integration

  • Ensure communication between (u)C/PLC I/O module boards/ GUI of all inputs and outputs (sensors and actuators)
  • Writing, deploying and debugging (u)C/PLC code to obtain the desired equipment behaviour.
  • Supporting the integration of the GUI

Maintenance

  • Debug or add new functionalities to equipment
  • Support larger upgrades (design, integration, commissioning)
  • Ensure compatibility with e.g. new software releases
